The Next Nintendo: Promo Story

In a time of darkness, in a time of despair, the heroes from our time have disappeared. Years into the future, the heroes of Nintendo that we've come all come to know and love are plucked off and disappear. With them out of the way, a deity that once watched over the universe that was Nintendo destroys each world, from the worlds of Super Mario Bros. to the worlds of Earthbound. Now, the protégées of some of these heroes set off to save them. However, they'll have to do something that was the last thing anyone expected…team up with their enemies.

Darkness covered the land. A thin twilight shined in the distance, giving some light to the barren wasteland this team was forced to call home. The once bustling city they were in was now ruins. Buildings were destroyed and streets were cracked. A sign at the entrance into the city read Fourside! The Big Banana! And at the entrance to the town was the team of heroes that planned to bring back the light, not just to this city in particular, but to every world that was in need of light. The entire team looked to be made of either teens or kids, 3 of which whom weren't even human. The second shortest and youngest, a kid with a short-temper and hair that defied gravity, was the first to speak. "Fourside. The Big Banana. Feh, I never understood that nickname."

"Banana…" A gorilla with a handkerchief that read 'GK' drooled a little bit, thinking about bananas.

"You know this place, Nick?" The tallest one asked, a teenage boy in a racing outfit and a helmet held by a strap around his hand.

"Of course I do! We've been here before, remember?" The short kid, supposedly Nick, glared.

"Oh."

Nick just rolled his eyes in disgust.

"Anyways," the tall blue fox stepped in, wearing a strange orange uniform coupled with a grey jacket. "This is where we're meeting those monsters, right?"

"They're not monsters," the shortest one, a girl with a bulbous nose and long blonde hair, quickly defended. "They're people, just like us. They may not be human, but that doesn't automatically make them 'monsters'."

"Right, right," the fox frowned, confused. "Sorry, Apple. My bad."

"That aside," Apple brushed her bang from her face, only for it to sling back to its natural position in front of her face. "They are just as willing to help save our worlds as we are."

"I still don't trust them," one boy folded his arms, having black hair that seemed to go everywhere and wearing an orange shirt with short white sleeves and a red cap turned around. "How do we know that this isn't just some big trap to get rid of us?"

"You have to think of the bigger picture, Orange," Apple said, putting her fingers together, sticking her thumbs out, and showing her palms, like a mime pretending that he's trapped in a box. "What good would getting rid of us do? If they kill us off, then there's no one left to stop…well, you know. That freaky deity thing."

Orange frowned and looked up to the purple clouded sky, as if expecting to see someone burst down from the heavens. "Oh, yeah. I see your point." Orange scratched his cheek a bit, still processing what Apple just said. He wasn't an idiot, he was just wondering why Apple seemed so quick to protect the people that each and every one of these heroes had considered their enemy for so long. He decided to let that go, however, and gave a quick sigh of defeat.

"Are we done yet?" One girl, with short dark red hair and a yellow fringe, huffed and walked forward a bit, clutching two twin blades. "I'd prefer not to keep them waiting. My enemy is probably rather willing to team up with us, seeing as how he's been shunned by anyone with good intentions his whole life."

"Too bad it'll be short lived for him," the racer boy laughed.

"Shut up, Kent," the girl shot a glare at the boy, and he quickly shut up, wincing a bit. The girl then resumed walking forward, this time at a faster pace and slowly gaining distance from the team.

"Mira's right, we shouldn't keep them waiting any longer," the fox nodded, following after Mira. Nick nodded and followed suit without a word, then Kent followed as well while digging his hands into his pockets, ashamed.

"Why are you so quick to defend these guys?" One of the taller boys, yet shorter than Kent, put a hand on Apple's shoulder. "I know you. You and Junior have been battling practically before you were even born. His father and yours have been enemies for years. Why are you so eager to work with them?"

"I…" Apple turned away, nervous. "I just want to save my dad as fast as possible. You know what I mean, Poppy. You want to save Uncle Lui-, I mean, your dad, too, right?" Poppy silently nodded. "Exactly. This is the best possible way to save all our parents. If we all work together, we can rescue everybody and save all the worlds. Besides, I get the feeling that their parents have been trapped as well. That's why they are fighting this monster, too." Apple gave a soft chuckled on the last one, and Poppy nodded with a smile.

"Not mine," Nick popped up behind the two, causing them to both jump.

"Aaah!" Apple gave Nick a kick to the shin. "Don't scare me like that!"

"Ow!" Nick clutched his leg to his chest, rubbing his shin up and down.

"What do you mean 'not yours'?" Poppy asked, tilting his head.

"My enemy is Larry Lou, leader of the Urchins," Nick replied, setting his foot down. "He has absolutely no relation to either Giygas or Porky, both of whom I know for a fact have been kidnapped by this freak. Larry Lou is only with the other villains because he and I are arch enemies. He has no reason to team up with us."

"…huh," Apple raised an eyebrow, not really paying much attention. "Well, that aside, let's get going. We really shouldn't keep them waiting."

Apple, Nick, and Poppy hurried along. Orange turned around to the gorilla and a small pink blob playing with each other and a blonde woman doodling something on a notepad. "Gutsy Kong, Lemmy, Samantha, c'mon! Let's get going!"

"Oh?"Lemmy, the blob, turned to Orange and nodded happily. "Ohanj!"

"Okay!" Gutsy Kong, the gorilla, pounded a fist to his chest and put Lemmy onto his shoulder, quickly hurrying to catch up with the others.

"Samantha?" Orange repeated, waiting for the woman to look up. She finally looked up, then quickly finished sketching something. She soon closed the notepad, slipped it into her pocket, and walked past Orange without a word. "Women…" Orange rolled his eyes and followed after, being the last to catch up to the group.

The team reached a tall, tall building. A sign that was crashed onto the ground next to it read Monotoli. "The Monotoli Building," Nick folded his arms. "Heh, haven't been here in a while…"

"That's nice," Kent rolled his eyes. "So, anyways, where are they?"

"I don't know," Apple frowned nervously, looking around. She was really looking forward to this. It was the first time that she'd actually get to team up with her 'enemy'. She just couldn't let it slip by.

"Probably ditched us," Poppy sighed, pinching the top of his nose arc which was between his eyes. "Whatever. We can do this without their help."

"Can't let you do that, StarFox!"

The ten quickly turn to see another ten. In the front was a tall and muscular Spiked Koopa. His firey red hair was pulled back into a pony tail. He smiled warmly down at Apple. "Bowser Jr.," Apple smiled.

Next to him was a Boo that was rather large for one. She had a frilly pink scarf wrapped around her 'neck' and a golden crown on her head that was over-jeweled. She seemed too busy looking at herself in a gold-rimmed mirror to look at her rival. "Booana," Poppy glared. Booana heard her name and looked up from her mirror long enough to see Poppy. She simply scoffed silently.

Next was a tall, lean, light blue penguin. At least, he looked like a penguin. He had a teal robe wrapped around him, lined with white fluff made from who-knows-what. There was an odd pattern of stars on it. He held up a long, rubber mallet and pointed it at Lemmy. "Sasa!" Lemmy frowned, meaning to say 'Salsa', as that was his name.

To his left was a tan, shirtless, red-head man, AKA any teenage girl's dreamboat. He had a rather huge nose that could almost rival Apple's if it was bigger, and a jewel embedded onto his forehead. He wore pants with strange writings and a scarf wrapped around his neck. With an emotionless expression, he nodded to Mira. "Godfrey," Mira acknowledged.

To Bowser Jr.'s right was a tall, purple and black cat. It was both lean and skinny, with what seemed to be two long veins sticking out down the run of both its arms. It had only three fingers with ball-like tips and large cat-like feet with only two toes that, of course, had ball-like tips. It glared down at Orange, curling back its lips as if to hiss. "Mewthree," Orange quickly pulled out a Pokéball and pressed the button at the front, letting out a Pikachu that was ready for battle.

Next to Mewthree was a strange, dark purple creature. It seemed to be a mix between a Pterodactyl and a bat. It was very, very skinny, almost looking like it would starve. Its left arm and right leg both looked robotized, as they looked mechanical. It also had two large wings that were curled in close to its back. It just stared coldly at Samantha. "Leyrid," Samantha raised an eyebrow, pulling out a small gun.

Next to Leyrid was a light grey, almost silver, wolf. He had white fluff that trailed down the sides of his face and the front. He wore a black jacket with many unneeded and often unused zippers, and an even blacker shirt underneath that was accompanied by a pendant hung around his neck. Below his waist, he had tight white pants and black spiked boots. He had black gauntlets and fingerless gloves on his hands, white claws sticking out from each. "I'm the only one here that's a part of StarFox, Silver O'Donnell," Marcus gave Silver an odd look, as if to say 'WTF-were-you-thinking?!'

On the other end, next to Godfrey, was a samurai teenage boy. He was rather muscular, with a sort of paunch. He wore a brown helmet accompanied by a pair of goggles that he probably never actually wore. He wore a brown vest with a white shirt that had some sort of Japanese symbol on it that represented something, or something. On his arms, like arm bracers, were some sort of bandages that were probably just for show since they were on both arms. He had tight blue sweats with a yellow belt and boots. He also had a sword sheath on his back with a strap down his front and a samurai sword in the sheath. "Dai Goroh," Kent grinned, acknowledging Dai as more of a rival than enemy.

To the right of Silver was a tall man in a blue work suit. He had black, torpedo-shaped hair that served no strong purpose and a glare that could make children cry in an instant. Or so he keeps telling himself, anyways. He clutched a knife in one hand and pointed it at Nick. "Larry Lou," Nick rolled his eyes, unimpressed as usual.

To the left of Dai Goroh was a Kremling. She wore a tattered pale pink and violet dress. She also had a large belly and a golden crown on her head. She scratched her belly a bit and scoffed at Gutsy Kong. "Rudy!" Gutsy Kong screeched angrily, pounding at the ground and creating mini-craters that were even bigger than the fists making them.

"So, was there a point to saying their names one at a time?" Orange asked.

Bowser Jr. was the first to step up to the heroes, and the rest followed close in a group. "Apple," he took Apple's hand, and Apple looked away with a smile. "Here, we shall mark a short truce. Each of us will put aside our differences between the other, so we can work together to save the ones we care about. Mario Mario, Luigi Mario, Peach Toadstool-Mario, Daisy Mario, Ludwig von Koopa, Kirby, Chu Chu, King Dedede, Link, Malon, Zelda, Ganondorf, Red, Yellow, Giovanni, Mewtwo, Samus Aran, Ridley, Fox McCloud, Krystal, Wolf O'Donnell, Captain Falcon, Black Shadow, Blood Falcon, Samurai Goroh, Ninten Cube, Ana, Ness, Paula, Giegue 'Giygas', Pokey 'Porky' Minch, Donkey Kong, Diddy Kong, Candy Kong, and King K. Rool. We shall all work together, to save them."

"Enough with the sappy speeches!" Rudy spat. "Let's just get going already!"

Rudy was the first to begin walking away, quickly followed by Larry Lou, Silver O'Donnell, Marcus McCloud, and Orange and his Pikachu. Kent and Dai followed after chatting it up quickly. Nick soon followed as well, not wanting to be anywhere near Larry Lou but doing so to keep an eye on him. Poppy and Booana followed as well, arguing with each other. Gutsy Kong, Lemmy, Prince Salsa, Mira, and Mewthree followed as well, Mira attempting to make conversation with Mewthree but it refusing to say anything which really pissed Mira off. Godfrey, Leyrid, and Samantha followed as well, Leyrid and Samantha simply glaring angrily at each other.

Bowser Jr. and Apple were the last. Bowser Jr. wrapped an arm around Apple and held her close as the two began walking, Apple cuddling up to Bowser Jr.'s belly, which was about where she reached in height. "Finally, we get to be together without worry…" Apple smiled softly, never wanting to let go.

Bowser Jr. rubbed the back of her head, leaned down, and planted a kiss on Apple's lips. "Yes, but we still can't risk causing too much suspicion among the others. Let's tone down the cuddling a lot when we're around the others, 'kay?"

"Of course," Apple giggled, kissing Bowser Jr. back on his lips. "I love you so much~"

"And I, you, my sweet Apple pie," Bowser Jr. grinned. "Alright, let's go. Can't fall back behind, now can we?" Apple giggled a bit and shook her head in response. The two took hands and walked after the others.

In the darkest of times, at the bleakest moment, even two clashing forces can work together. Like Romeo and Juliet, Bowser Jr. and Apple manage to bring the two sides together to work against the evil deity that has the heroes and villains of Nintendo. Not just for their own sake, but for everyone's sake, as these twenty are not the only ones fighting against this evil force that threatens their land. Mario Jr., Whoashi, Lisa Wario, Turquoise, Amber, Pichu, Hyland, Dot, Falco Lombardi, Freddy Toad, Abigail Hare, Noel Powalski, William Cube, Cathrine, Link Jr., Linza, Angelic, Twyford, Long, Dove, Candy, Jonas, Harmony, Melody, Rhythm, June, Lappel, Riri, Henry, Albion, Levi, Elysa, R.S.C.O., Game & Watch Jr., Mach the Hedgehog, Boa, and many, many, many more protégées of past heroes have begun fighting, trying to help save the heroes of past…
